Provide leadership and management that has transformed agency from 24 staff and a $1.3 million budget to 75 staff and $10 million budget. Created an agency Brand that is now recognized as a leading non-profit in the city of Long Beach and State of California assisting families to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Major Accomplishments

  • As the Interim SBDC Manager duties included budget management, program development, vendor relations, community collaborations and marketing of SBDC programs and services.

  • Co-Authored the Project Y.E.S. (Youth Empowerment Strategies) grant for Out of School Youth that received recognition from the California Community College Chancellors office for it’s innovative program design and impact on youth.

 

YMCA of Greater Long Beach

Buffum-Downtown Branch, Executive Director, February 2001 – January 2003

Provided leadership in initiatives to establish the Buffum-Downtown YMCA as a provider of programs that address academic enrichment, healthy lifestyles and character development.

 

Major Accomplishments
  • Managed to complete two consecutive years with a balanced budget for the first time in over a decade of operations for the Buffum-Downtown Branch

 

Dearborn St. YMCA

CEO, 1997 - 2001

Provided leadership and management expertise for the daily operations of the Dearborn YMCA including marketing, program, staff and financial development, strategic planning and board development.

 

Major Accomplishments:

  • Increased the annual operations budget from $477,838 to $700,000 and established Dearborn as one of the leading United Way Agencies in Southwest Alabama

Long Beach Community Partnership

President, Long Beach, California 1994-1996

Provided leadership and facilitation expertise for the collaborative efforts of business, government, education and community leaders in strategies to enhance the quality of life in greater Long Beach.

 

Major Accomplishments:

  • Leader in collaborative effort that successfully streamlined the business license and permit process

  • Collaborated in unprecedented efforts to create a world class seamless K-16 education system

Directed consultant’s efforts to provide management and technical assistance to minority business owners in Los Angeles County.

 

Major Accomplishments:

  • Re-established center as leading resource for minority business assistance

  • Established remote outreach center to serve businesses in San Fernando Valley

Vice President, Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) officer 1992 - 1993

 

Major Accomplishments:

  • Managed administration of $25 million dollar rebuild Los Angeles fund after the 1992 civil unrest

  • Reviewed business lending division CRA program and recommended new loan programs that could better meet the needs of small business customers

 

Security Pacific Bank, Los Angeles, California

Vice President 1983 - 1992

Scored the highest performance rating possible as a manager in telecommunications while progressing quickly to gain visibility at the vice chairman level of the corporation.

 

Major Accomplishments:

  • Designed/implemented the Security Pacific Video Network (S.P.V.N.) which provided video conferencing for middle managers and saved the corporation an average of $25,000 per month

  • Represented the corporation throughout the Western United States enhancing community relations and providing important insight to executive management
